To Do List - Update

Back in January I posted my alternative to a New Years Resolution. I made myself a little to-do list of things I'd like to achieve this year. Just to recap these were my on my list:

So far I have managed to make progress in a few of them.

No4. I've been on the job hunt continuously but so far nothing has cropped up. I did get a phone call regarding a job that sounds like it would be awesome if it came out of the woodwork so keep your fingers crossed for me people.

No5. We have managed to slowly get some savings together, nothing spectacular as yet and still a way off what we actually need but we are slowly getting there.

No8. We haven't quite managed a date night every month, it's tougher than you'd think but we've managed a few at least. Nothing massively exciting or sweep me off my feet romantic (hint hint Ant!) but nights for us to enjoy each other's company and forget about being parents for a while.  In January we went out on a double date with one of my really good friends and her other half. We went for cocktails before hitting up one of my now favourite bars in Leeds, the Smokestack.

I can't remember if we managed a date in February, nothing springs to mind so if we did it can't have been that great!  In March we went out again as a double date with same friends as before.  This time we went to a Rock 'n' Roll evening at Bibi's Ristorante in Leeds. We ate and danced all night and it was pretty fabulous, plus I won a prize for best dressed lady! Woo hoo!

Our date night for April was attending a friends wedding reception, it was lovely as we got all dressed up and spent the night chatting and laughing together, before going home to an empty house and an undisturbed nights sleep, thanks to my lovely brother and his girlfriend Abbie.

I think we are going to fail for a date night in May but we already have our June date booked in and I'm soooo looking forward to it.

No9.  Visiting Haworth for the 1940's weekend has been a dream of mine for a while now and this year I finally managed to make it a reality. We only managed to go on the Sunday as Ant was working the Saturday but we still had a fabulous day.  The gorgeous weather meant it was absolutely heaving though and we unfortunately didn't get to do all the things I wanted to, in fact we didn't really do any of them, yet I still enjoyed every second of it. We will definitely be going back next year and planning a little more to try fit everything in.

No10.  This one was always going to be a tough one to achieve as Ant works such long hours that I get very little time when I'm not working or being a mummy.  I have managed to squeeze in a few nights out with awesome friends and an afternoon tea with fellow blogger Vicki from Honest Mum and Mummy's Got Style to celebrate the birthday of her style blog

I've also been trying to put some time aside at least once a week to do something for me on an evening, be it blogging, painting my nails or reading in the bath.  Even these few little bits have been a much needed addition in my life and made a big difference.  I feel like I am slowly clawing back little parts of Franki that got put on the shelf whilst I raised our little man through those all consuming first years of his life.  Hopefully as the year progresses I'll manage to find even more snippets of me time.

So that's it so far, but I'm pretty impressed with what I have achieved in these first 5 months. Hope I can get as many things done in the next 7.

  1. My Gorgeous Franki, you look lovely in all your pictures. I love your 'to-do' list instead of resolutions. I never make resolutions- they set you up to fail! Good luck with the potential job xx

    1. N'aww thanks Katrina! Exactly that's why I don't make NY resolutions but I thought a to do list would ensure I make the most of the year without letting it flit by. Xx

  2. Great little list! A list of things to do is definitely better than resolutions and it is great you are keeping track of your progress. Looks like you've had a great time in the past few months. Well done for the nights out and the 'me time'. Good luck for the job! Mel #brillblogposts

    1. Thank you very much. A to do list feels much more achievable than a resolution which can feel like a chore can't it? Thanks for stopping by :-)

  3. Sweetpea so touched to have made your post babe, we had such a laugh, thanks for the shout outs and let's get together soon, we always have such a laugh. Love this to do list and you know what writing it down and getting all those goals out to the universe, works. See you soon xx

  4. Pretty good start to your list. Have you looked at the Day Zero project? That's a huge undertaking over almost 3 years. Mine started well, but trailed off. Still good to have goals though.

    1. Yeah I've looked at it but think I'd be disheartened by some of the huge, amazing things people have achieved if that makes sense? Thanks for stopping by. :-)

  6. Fantastic to see you have done quite a few on your list! I must admit date nights is a proper priority of mine at the mo. Me and my hub are utterly rubbish at it. Like rubbish! I am guest hosting #AllAboutYou this week. Nice to come and visit your blog! xxx
